Special Assemblies


Assemblies for National Festivals

Special Assemblies are conducted to mark the National Festivals of Independence Day and Republic Day. On these occasions the celebrations start with the hoisting of the National Flag, and singing of the National Anthem followed by a prayer for the country’s unity, growth and prosperity. The importance of the day is highlighted by the skits showing short excerpts from the freedom struggle. Patriotic songs and dances are presented by the students

Gandhi Jayanti and Martyr’s Day are also observed. The students present short assemblies highlighting the importance of these two days.


Assemblies for Religious Festivals

Special Assemblies are conducted to celebrate all the major religious festivals of India. The students present short skits, dances accompanied by songs sung by the Indian and Western Music Choir. These assemblies are informative as they show the importance and the reason for the celebration of the particular festival.


Investiture Ceremony

The oath taking ceremony is the year’s most solemn occasion when the Student Council take a pledge to uphold the honor and values of the school. The badges are presented to the members during the ceremony and they are briefed about the duties required to be performed by them.


Arbour Day Assembly

The entire programme stressed the importance of caring for our environment and keeping the surroundings green and clean. Students through their skits and songs helped the people to understand the importance of trees. The students plant saplings, which enables them to create an ecological balance in nature.


Felicitation Ceremony

The top achievers in Class X and XII Board Exams are felicitated in the presence of their proud parents and teachers. Our Principal awards them with trophies and certificates.


Benedictions

This is a very solemn ceremony where the class XII students are bestowed with prayers and blessings by the Dr. Mary Thomas, Principal and the teachers before they leave the portals of Somerville School, Greater NOIDA.


Teachers’ Day

The students prepare short programs for their teachers exhibiting their talent in dance, singing and acting. This is a way of expressing their love and regard for their teachers.


Children’s Day

This day is looked forward to by all the students, as their teachers put up performances for their students to express their love and care for them.
