Description: Our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi interacted with students as part of third edition of ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ 2020 from Talkatora stadium, New Delhi on preparing students for exams without the stress and the anxiety associated with it. The interaction saw students seeking guidance on various issues of importance to them from the Prime Minister. This year too students from across the country and also Indian students residing abroad participated in the event. Around 2000 students became part of the direct telecast of the event at the stadium. The students of the board classes of Somerville School, Greater Noida benefitted through the interactive session as piece of timely advice given by the great leader of the Nation. District Inspector of Schools- Dr. Neeraj Kumar Pandey, Gautam Buddha Nagar and our Principal Dr. Mary Thomas graced the occasion with their kind presence to inspire the students appearing for the board exams. At the outset, the Prime Minister wished all the students a prosperous New Year and a new decade. Explaining the importance of the decade the Prime Minister said that the hopes and aspirations of the current decade rest on those children who are in their final years of schooling in the country. The Prime Minister said most often students get demotivated due to external factors and also as they try to attach too much significance to their own expectations. He asked the students to find out the reason for the demotivation and ponder over how to deal with it. He gave the example of the recent issue of Chandrayaan and his visit to ISRO. This year’s programme was moderated by students, six of them from the Kendriya Vidhyalay selected on the basis of a Debate Competition held earlier. In probably his longest interaction with students, the Prime Minister took 10 questions ranging from dealing with mood swings to whether to study at night or early morning, from balancing extra-curricular activities to importance of technology and rights and duties as future responsible voters. Honourable Prime Minister also said that, “Not pursuing extra-curricular activities can turn a student into a robot.” The Prime Minister also had a piece of advice for the parents to understand the importance of exams and to change their mindset by encouraging and not pressurizing their children. In the technology driven era, the Prime Minister motivated the students to spend time without gadgets and observe a technology free hour every day and spend time with their grandparents or in other activities. The Prime Minister urged the students not to enter the exam hall with any sort of pressure but to have faith in themselves and stay focused.
