Description: Our mantra should be: ‘Beta Beti Ek Samaan’ Let us celebrate the birth of a girl child. We should be equally proud of our daughters. Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged to sow five plants when a daughter is born to celebrate the occasion. Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Mission was launched by the Honorable Prime Minister on 22nd January 2015 at Panipat, Haryana. Beti Bachao Beti Padhao addresses the declining child sex ratio and related issues of women empowerment. To instill this mission in the heart and minds of the future of the nation, a pledge was administered by Dr. Mary Thomas, Principal, Somerville School, Greater NOIDA on 20th January 2020 to protect, care and honour the girl child and to treat them as equals. Boys from Classes VII-XI pledged to become responsible members of society, to uphold the honour of girls and women, through their words, action and deed, to oppose social evils like – female infanticide, child marriage, to encourage the education of girls and to provide equal opportunity for welfare and progress of women and girls in society. Students pledged to render full cooperation for the betterment of women and girls, not only in the society but in the entire country.
